My first major interaction with MICA that readily comes to mind, was through the
Muslim Teens Network. I fell in love with Queen (Sister Aameenah Yunus Ali) and her
best friend then, who facilitated the program. As a teenager coming to terms with self-awareness and identity, I felt the program was a breath of fresh air, as it opened my
mind to how rich our religion is and, what we were created to do & how I could play
my part, even as a teen. I must say that I also added to my list of Muslim role models
who were quite few but Alhamdulillah the list has grown so much longer since then.
