In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

“…Anyone who believes in God and the Last Day should heed this: God will find a way out for those who are mindful of Him, and will provide for them from an unexpected source; God will be enough for those who put their trust in Him. God achieves His purpose; God has set a due measure for everything.” (Qur’an 65:2-3)

Reflection

When I think about this verse, I can’t help but be in awe of Allah’s love for us. The rule is simple: trust Allah and He will always make a way for you.

However, tawakkul – complete reliance upon Allah – can be difficult to achieve when we approach it from a limiting perspective. Truly trusting Allah means accepting and internalising that He knows things we do not know, He has power over all things and everything in the universe and beyond, belongs to Him. It also means surrendering to His Will and acknowledging that Allah knows what’s best for us at any particular point in time. Whatever comes from Allah to us is a gift, even when it’s not in the form we expect.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, said to Ibn Abbas, ‘O young man, I shall teach you some words [of advice]: Be mindful of Allah and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah and you will find Him in front of you. If you ask, then ask Allah [alone]; and if you seek help, then seek help from Allah [alone]. Know that if the nation were to gather together to benefit you with anything, they would not benefit you except with what Allah had already prescribed for you. And if they were to gather together to harm you with anything, they would not harm you except with what Allah had already prescribed against you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried.’ (An-Nawawi)

Call to Action

Begin this week with the intention of doing everything in your power to achieve your goals and leave the outcome to Allah. Trust that Allah will give you what’s best for you even if it doesn’t appear so at the moment.

Know that He is with you wherever you are, and as long as you hold to Him, He will never forsake you.

May Allah grant us the strength to exercise patience during difficult times, and the courage to always choose what He wants for us. Ameen.
